It’s easy to make a 72 hour emergency kit. For many people the hardest part is getting started. It’s always best to start with a master emergency preparedness list that you customize based on your individual needs.

We are all different so my kit will be different than yours. It is also a great idea to have 2 weeks of supplies instead of just 3 days. This is not hard to do and will give your family much needed extra security.

Start the process by checking out some of these resources:

Getting Started In Emergency Preparedness: Week Fourteen …

Others call them get out of Dodge bags (GOOD), and others call them 72-hour kits. I am going to call them emergency evacuation kits. They all serve the same purpose, to get you away from trouble. You will need one for your car, one for your work, and one for your home. When I say you, … http://www.72hours.org/go_bag.html. Wikipedia – Bug-Out Bag. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bug-out_bag. make sure you read the links within the article. Alpha Rubicon – Backpack Survival …

72-Hour Family Emergency Supplies Kit The 72-Hour Emergency Kit should be individually tailored to meet the basic survival needs of your family for three.

Most people do not have a 72-hour kit or any other emergency preparedness items stored for an emergency situation. It is very important to have a 72-hour kit, but the problem with the kits is that they have to be consistently updated. …

Remember to provide some sort of personal defense because you never know what type of crime might break out in an emergency. You may never need it – but if you do – you’ll be glad you planned ahead.

Consider bright flashlights, pepper spray, whistles for all children, stun guns or whatever type of defense weapon you think you can handle. The most important way to protect yourself is to avoid trouble in the first place. Keep a low profile and don’t advertise that you have supplies. Be alert at all times.

Here are some videos about making a 72 hour emergency kit:

The most important thing is to get started today. Get some containers and start collecting what you need for each person. Remember to update them regularly. Put a note on your calender to check your kit every 6 months.

Just think how good you will feel when you have accomplished this task of making a 72 hour emergency kit for yourself and your family. Now keep going until you have 2 weeks and you will be much safer.
