Remember to provide some sort of personal defense because you never know what type of crime might break out in an emergency. You may never need it – but if you do – you’ll be glad you planned ahead.

Consider bright flashlights, pepper spray, whistles for all children, stun guns or whatever type of defense weapon you think you can handle. The most important way to protect yourself is to avoid trouble in the first place. Keep a low profile and don’t advertise that you have supplies. Be alert at all times.
